PHOENIX — The holiday spirit is what makes this the most wonderful time of the year.
Even in the midst of a global pandemic, there are still many things that can bring joy to those celebrating the holidays in 2020.
According to WalletHub, a personal finance website, Tucson is the best Arizona city to be in this year for celebrating Christmas amid the coronavirus pandemic and No. 41 overall in the U.S.
A total of seven Grand Canyon State cities and towns cracked the list, with Gilbert (71), Phoenix (78), Glendale (82), Chandler (83), Mesa (85) and Scottsdale (88) rounding out the remainder of the top-100.
When it comes to wine lovers and connoisseurs, however, that’s where the Valley shines brightest.
Of the top-six places for vino in the country, only Indianapolis bested Phoenix, Mesa, Chandler, Gilbert and Glendale, who all finished tied for second.
WalletHub used a variety of metrics to determine its list of top 100 American places to celebrate Christmas in 2020.
The personal finance website judged each city based on safety, traditions and food, observance and generosity.
Arizona took the cake when it came to the traditions and food category, as five of the top 32 cities and towns included Glendale (3), Gilbert (4), Tucson (13), Phoenix (22) and Chandler (32).
Safety grades were based on COVID-19 cases per capita in the last week, while generosity was based on how much shared income was given to charity and the number of food banks per capita.
