PHOENIX — Flagstaff-based Mother Road Brewing Co. is teaming up with the Arizona Game and Fish Department to debut a new brew aimed at spreading awareness for wildlife conservation.

The limited edition Conserve and Protect Golden Ale is a new recipe that comes in a one-of-a-kind yellow can featuring illustrations of deer and mountains.

“Conserve and Protect is the main message because that’s the important message for Arizona,” Oliver Adams, spokesman for Mother Road Brewing Co., said in a press release.

A portion of the proceeds from the beer goes toward the department’s on-the-ground conservation efforts of Arizona’s more than 800 species of wildlife.

The brewery and wildlife department collaborated on a Kolsch-style ale last year. Funds were used to survey Sonoran desert tortoises and endangered red squirrels.

“The Conserve and Protect donations allowed us to survey an additional tortoise plot in 2020, which is fantastic,” AZGFD wildlife specialist Chad Rubke said in the release.

“The data we collect is vital. It goes right to the top of the agencies that have a say in what happens with the future of this species.”

Mother Road Brewing beers can be found state-wide, distributed through Hensley Beverage Company and their partners.
