PHOENIX — A UK-based software metrics provider has decided to make Phoenix the location of the company’s main office in the U.S. with the announcement Friday of a second headquarters coming to the area.

BlueOptima in a press release said the company will also create more than 20 jobs in the coming months at the operations hub with a plan to double its workforce year to year.

Employees will be hired to fill sales, data science and customer success positions.

Current open positions and application information can be found on the company’s website.

“After comparing 50 cities in the US, Phoenix clearly stood out as the number one choice for fast-growing tech companies,” Julian Schultz, BlueOptima’s chief operating officer, said in the release.

“We are looking forward to establishing our US headquarters here and helping clients bring transparency into managing their software engineering teams.”

The company provides engineering-focused metrics with a goal to increase the efficiency and productivity of the software development process, according to the release, and has plans to launch a technical recruitment assessment platform that could accurately predict the performance of potential hires.

Based in London with offices in New York, Mexico and India, BlueOptima said in the release that Phoenix’s abundance of tech talent is what drew the company to the desert and the investment in the Valley is a commitment to North American growth.

“BlueOptima conducts business all over the world and chose Arizona for its American headquarters — a testament to our state’s global reputation as a premier destination for tech innovators,” Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey said in the release. “We thank the company for their investment in Arizona, and look forward to their contributions to the state’s growing high-tech industry.”

Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego echoed Ducey in the release, saying Phoenix is well-recognized as a growing technology center.

“In the midst of the pandemic, we have seen our legacy grow as new technology companies continue to hire from our experienced workforce,” Gallego said.

Downtown Phoenix is home to more than 400 tech companies, a drastic increase from 67 just nine years ago, according to Phoenix Community and Economic Development Director Christine Mackay.

The clients of BlueOptima range from small startups to large businesses, including several Fortune 500 companies, with focuses in financial services, health-technology, retail, advanced engineering and technology industries, according to the release.
