PHOENIX — A new area of study is available at the University of Arizona’s Chandler campus with the addition of a Master of Legal Studies program, according to a press release on Thursday.
The course, which on average can be completed in 21 months, builds legal and critical-thinking skills specializing in areas including regulation, compliance, negotiations, human resources and law enforcement. The course also covers how to work with corporations, public agencies, tribal governments and more, according to the release.
“The University of Arizona College of Law Master of Legal Studies degree delivered at UA Chandler is a natural expansion of one of the college’s fastest-growing and most vibrant and adaptable degree programs,” Marc Miller, dean and Ralph W. Bilby Professor of Law, said in the release.
“We are excited to bring to Chandler our exceptional faculty and wide range of courses, as well as opportunities for professional development and connection to the large law school and huge University of Arizona Phoenix area alumni base.”
The 30-unit course has spring, summer and fall semester starts and offers the option of flexible online coursework and in-person class meetings on Thursday evenings at the Chandler Community Center near Arizona Avenue and Boston Street.
“The degree provides students with legal foundations which can support their current work in a wide range of industry and public settings,” Miller said. For others, it will be a lever to advance their career paths.”
Other degrees offered at the university’s Chandler campus include a master of education, master of business administration and educational specialist in the school of psychology.
