PHOENIX — No freeway closures or restrictions are planned in the metro Phoenix area over the upcoming Thanksgiving weekend, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.
Motorists are advised to take caution on Valley freeways, especially if traveling away from the city for the holiday weekend.
A total of 11 people died on Arizona roads over last year’s Thanksgiving weekend and three deaths were attributed to alcohol-related crashes, ADOT said.
Drivers should avoid all distractions and impairments in order to lessen the possibility of a crash.
ADOT also recommends to bring face coverings, prepare to practice safe distancing and follow other public health guidelines while traveling because of the coronavirus pandemic.
Finally, motorists planning to leave metro Phoenix should check on their vehicles to ensure proper settings for tire pressure, engine fluid levels and windshield wipers.
