PHOENIX – Gov. Doug Ducey hosted a call with local business owners and retail industry leaders on Tuesday urging them to enforce coronavirus mitigation measures as the holiday season ramps up.

Ducey emphasized that while Arizona businesses continue to remain open, it’s important to implement proper virus precautions to keep shoppers and employees safe through the holidays.

Ducey was joined by Arizona Department of Health Services Director Dr. Cara Christ and Arizona Office of Tourism Director Debbie Johnson.

“I’m grateful for the diligence of small business owners and retailers over the past several months to help keep our economy safely open,” Ducey said in a tweet.

Participants on the call had the chance to discuss how they’re keeping their staff and customers safe as well as provide feedback on the current measures already in place.

AZDHS previously released public health guidelines for retail businesses to safely operate during the coronavirus pandemic, but Christ added that offering online shopping as much as possible will be helpful through the holiday season.

On Monday, Local First Arizona launched the Shop Arizona Marketplace, a one-of-a-kind e-commerce website showcasing products from more than 50 vendors across the state.

Christ also reemphasized reducing occupancy, enforcing social distancing, requiring masks, providing touchless payment systems and more.

We want to hear from you.
