PHOENIX — One woman has died and four people were injured after a shooting at an empty warehouse party in Phoenix on Saturday morning.

The incident occurred around 5:30 a.m. near 35th Avenue and Earl Drive.

The Phoenix Police Department responded after receiving calls of a shooting at an abandoned building in the industrial area, according to Sergeant Ann Justus.

Upon arrival, officers found a woman with a gunshot wound in an empty warehouse, Justus said.

The victim was later identified as 18 year-old Lalaina Baldison.

The Phoenix Fire Department transported Baldison to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead, Justus said.

“Around the same time, we started getting calls of people being dropped off or driven to hospitals and other medical facilities around the Valley that also had gunshot wounds” she added.

Justus said that there are a total of five shooting victims — including the slain woman — that range in age from 17-28.

The four surviving victims are in stable condition as of Sunday morning, Justus said.

“It appears some people illegally entered this abandoned building or empty warehouse to have a party and this is about the third one we’ve seen here in the last couple of weeks that’s ended in a shooting,” she said.

No other information was made immediately available, as the investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Phoenix Police Department or Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS or 480-TESTIGO for Spanish.
