DPS trooper injured in collision on State Route 85 in Buckeye

PHOENIX — An Arizona Department of Public Safety trooper was injured in a collision on State Route 85 near Buckeye on Monday, according to authorities.
Around 6 p.m., a two-vehicle collision occurred in the northbound lanes.
Troopers were conducting traffic control and moving all vehicles to the right lane, DPS said in an email.
As traffic was moving, the driver of a blue Ford F-150 started to pass traffic on the left and struck to trooper’s patrol vehicle from behind, authorities said.
The trooper was parked in the median with the vehicle’s emergency lights and right turn signal on at the time of the crash.
Both the trooper and the driver of the Ford were transported to local hospitals with serious injuries but they weren’t life threatening, authorities said.
Authorities said impairment is being investigated as a factor in the crash.
Northbound lanes were closed at Interstate 10 until around 1 a.m.
