PHOENIX — Chandler police have arrested a suspect accused of stealing $200,000 in hockey equipment from a rink in 2019, the department announced Tuesday.
Clayton Wayne Davis, 40, is accused of stealing the 14-foot trailer containing the gear from the Ice Den Chandler at about 5:30 a.m. on Aug. 11, 2019.
Video surveillance revealed the suspect to be a white male with tattoos driving a Toyota Sequoia.
The trailer and all gear was recovered in Phoenix the following day, but no suspects or leads came out of the initial investigation.
Chandler police said an anonymous tip led them to arrest Davis on Thursday in Scottsdale.
Davis was booked into Fourth Avenue Jail on one count of theft and one count of theft of means of transportations, both of which are felonies.
The Arizona Coyotes stepped up the day after the theft to replace the equipment for the Arizona Bobcats, the team who suffered the losses.
Players Oliver Ekman-Larsson and Lawson Crouse, and former president and CEO Ahron Cohen donated $20,000 to the team.
