Here’s what you need to know about in-person, mail-in voting in Arizona

PHOENIX – As Election Day inches closer in Arizona and across the country, voters are looking for answers to their voting questions.

Erika Flores with the Maricopa County Election Department advises voters to plan ahead to make sure their vote is counted. Flores talked with KTAR News 92.3 FM, and here are some of the most frequently asked questions regarding voting in the 2020 election:

My ballot is ruined or I can’t find it, can I get another one? 

A: The quickest way voters can request a replacement ballot is in-person at any Maricopa County Voting Center. You can also request one be sent to your home by calling 602-506-1511.

When should I mail back my ballot? 

A: The U.S. Postal Service is recommending you mail your ballot back at least 7 days before the election, which is Oct. 27.

How do I return my early ballot in-person? 

A: All voting centers have a drop box where you can drop-off your ballot without having to wait in line during business hours. There are also secure drop-off boxes across the county, a 24/7 box can be found outside the Maricopa County Elections Department office. There will also be drive-thru drop-off locations at select sporting arenas starting Oct 24 .

Can I vote in-person even if I got an early ballot? 

A: Yes, if you prefer to vote in person you can visit your nearest voting center and your early ballot will be voided.

Do I have to go to an assigned location like in 2016? 

A: No, this year the county has put a vote center model into place. As long as your registered before the deadline you can vote at any location. New locations will be added as Election Day approaches.

Is it safe to vote in-person during the pandemic?  

A: The Maricopa County Elections Department has put safety measures in place at every location. Voting centers are large enough to accommodate physical distancing. Poll workers are wearing face shields, masks and gloves and masks and gloves are available to voters as well. Poll workers will be disinfecting pens and other high touch surfaces.

I moved and I haven’t gotten my ballot in the mail. 

A: Ballots are not forwarded. If you moved and want a ballot be sent to your new address you need to contact the Maricopa County Elections Department before Oct. 23. You can check your on-record address through your personalized dashboard at BeBallotReady.Vote

Is it still accessible to vote if I have a disability?  

A: Yes. Curbside voting is available for those who cannot leave their vehicle. All voting centers also have accessible voting devices for those who have are vision or hearing impaired.
