DPS makes record-breaking drug bust during traffic stop in Phoenix

PHOENIX — Troopers seized nearly $2.5 million worth of fentanyl, cocaine and methamphetamine following a traffic stop on Thursday evening.
According to a release by the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the 464 pounds of meth discovered from the car was the largest seizure of the drug in the history of the department.
The street value of the meth alone was listed at $1.5 million, the release said.
A DPS officer pulled over the vehicle carrying the drugs for a traffic violation at 9:00 p.m. near the intersection of 20th Street and Greenway Road.

They also discovered 50,000 fentanyl pills and 35 pounds of cocaine. Both drugs estimated worth was more than $500,000.
The driver of the vehicle was arrested on possession of dangerous drugs, possession of drugs for sale, possession of narcotic drugs, possession of narcotic drugs for sale, conspiracy and illegally conducting an enterprise.
Police identified the man as 30-year-old Luis A. Sonoqui of Phoenix.
