Arizona Secretary of State Hobbs still dealing with election misinformation

PHOENIX — Arizona’s top election official’s biggest worry ahead of Nov. 3 is one she’s been fighting for months.

Arizona Secretary of State Katie Hobbs told KTAR News 92.3 FM’s The Gaydos and Chad Show on Thursday that sifting through a constant flow of misinformation has been a focus.

“We’ve been dealing with this issue of misinformation in regards to our elections,” Hobbs said. “Voter fraud, people talking about all these things elections officials do.”

Hobbs has used her social media pages as an outlet to try to educate voters on what’s legitimate and what’s not when it comes to voting.

She said voter fraud — specifically the issue of mail-in voting — has been a main source of misinformation.

Arizona is experienced with mail-in voting as well, having used the process since 1992.

“There’s so much misinformation out there that just is not true,” Hobbs said. “We have been working to really push back on that and really counter that message.”

Hobbs said she will likely have to continue diverting her attention the next couple of weeks in order to make sure voters have correct information.

Early voting is already underway in Arizona.

“That’s the best thing we can do to stop misinformation and make sure voters have the right information to go vote,” Hobbs said.
