Weekend drivers to contend with Loop 202 closures near Phoenix Sky Harbor

PHOENIX – Weekend drivers will have to navigate closures on the Loop 202 near Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.
The eastbound Red Mountain Loop 202 will be closed from the Interstate 10 and State Route 51 mini stack interchange to the Loop 101 from 11 p.m. Friday to 7 p.m. Saturday for pavement sealing.
All ramps to eastbound Loop 202 between SR 51 and Loop 101 will be closed during this time.
The westbound Loop 202 lanes will also be closed for pavement sealing, but this project will take place from 11 p.m. Saturday to 7 p.m. Sunday.
In the North Valley, the northbound SR 51 ramp to westbound Loop 101 will be closed from 3 p.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday for a widening project.
In the East Valley, westbound Loop 202 will be narrowed to one lane between Price and Kyrene roads from 8 p.m. Friday to 8 a.m. Sunday for pavement improvements. As a result, the southbound Loop 101 ramp to westbound 202 and the westbound Loop 2020 ramp to northbound Loop 101 will be closed.
Off the freeways, drivers should watch for multiple closuresand restrictions Sunday in Tempe related to the Ironman 70.3 triathlon.
The closures will be in place from 5:30 a.m. until around 6 p.m.
