PHOENIX – Four Peaks Brewing Company’s annual Oktoberfest has gone virtual because of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
The event will be livestreamed on the brewery’s Facebook page on Saturday from 2 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
The virtual Oktoberfest, which usually takes place at Tempe Beach Park, will feature musical performances from German oompah bands as well as local bands such as Dayweather, Jay Allen and Jared & the Mill.
Tempe Mayor Corey Woods will make an appearance for the ceremonial tapping of the keg.
Throughout the afternoon, there will be Oktoberfest trivia, wiener dog races, a virtual chicken dance and tips on how to properly hold your beer stein.
The event will also feature educational seminars on German food and beer.
Arizona Sports 98.7 FM’s Dan Bickley will host the virtual festival.
Four Peaks’ annual event benefits Tempe Sister Cities, a nonprofit whose student exchange programs help promote international goodwill, but they will still use the virtual event to raise funds and awareness for the program.
