PHOENIX — People in the city of Surprise won’t have to go too far to receive medical care as the area’s first hospital is set to open on Monday.
Abrazo Health will debut the new facility near Loop 303 and Bell Road at 7 a.m, according to a press release on Friday.
While Abrazo Surprise Hospital is smaller than a typical hospital, it will still feature a full emergency department, surgical services, private inpatient rooms, ultrasound, x-ray and CT scan, a laboratory and a pharmacy among other services, according to the release.
“Abrazo Surprise Hospital is in an ideal location for ease of access and we are able to provide a higher level of care than an urgent care,” Chrissy Salazar, administrative director, said in the release.
“Our general surgery capability means if you come to the ER with gall bladder symptoms or appendicitis, for example, you won’t need to be transferred elsewhere. We will have 24/7 emergency and general surgery coverage.”
Emergency medicine physician Dr. Brian Hess added in the release that the hospital’s capacity of care extends beyond the ER to observation or inpatient for lower acuity and uncomplicated medical conditions.
The hospital in Surprise is the organization’s seventh in the Valley, with an eighth location opening in 2021 in Cave Creek, according to the website.
