PHOENIX – The Glendale Police Department arrested a 55-year-old woman Thursday after she allegedly stabbed her partner and set fire to a nearby trailer, according to authorities.
Police responded to a call at a trailer park near 51st and Glendale avenues where they found a male suffering from stab wounds.
While administering aid to the victim, police noticed a fire inside a nearby trailer. Police found the suspect, Amy Ann Hill, walking away from the scene.
She was detained and told officers she was responsible for the victim’s injuries. Hill also said she was in a relationship and lived with the victim, according to police.
The victim sustained life-threatening injuries and was taken to a local hospital.
Hill was arrested and booked on one count of aggravated assault and one count of arson of an occupied structure, according to police.
The Glendale Police Department wants to remind the public that October is Domestic Violence Awareness month.
“Domestic violence affects people from all walks of life and of every age and demographic,” the department said in a press release. “It includes physical, emotional and psychological abuse.”
The Glendale Family Advocacy Center offers numerous resources for victims of domestic violence. People who are involved in or know of someone involved in a violent relationship are urged to seek help by calling 623-930-3720 or visiting the center’s website.
The Glendale City Hall will be lit purple for the entire month to raise awareness.
