Weekend restrictions include Loop 101 in North Valley, Loop 202 in Chandler

PHOENIX – Valley freeway drivers will face closures and restrictions on the Loop 101 in the North Valley and Loop 202 in Chandler this weekend, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.

In the North Valley, westbound Loop 101 will be closed between Tatum Boulevard and Cave Creek Road for a widening project from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.

Tatum Boulevard will also be closed in both directions at the freeway. The State Route 51 northbound ramp to the Loop 101 will be closed for the project as well.

Also on the Loop 101, southbound lanes will be closed between Rio Salado Parkway and Baseline Road in Tempe for lane striping from 8 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.

Both of the Loop 202 ramps to the Loop 101 southbound and the on-ramp at McKellips Road will be closed.

In Chandler, the westbound lanes of Loop 202 San Tan Freeway will be narrowed to the HOV lane between the Loop 101 and Interstate 10 for pavement improvements from 8 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.

Both of the the westbound Loop 202 ramps to Interstate 10 will be closed but the westbound HOV ramp to westbound I-10 will remain open.

Loop 202 will be closed intermittently in both directions near Lindsay Road for Salt River Project Utilitiy work. The closures will take place from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Sunday and are expected to last up to 15 minutes each.

Finally, the northbound off-ramp of Interstate 17 at Happy Valley Road in the North Valley will be closed from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Tuesday for an interchange reconstruction project.
