PHOENIX — A Great Dane didn’t let her terrible situation cloud her outlook on life.

Sunshine was one of nearly 30 other dogs rescued from a hoarding situation by the Arizona Animal Welfare League, but now she’s looking for her forever home.

AAWL said the animal urine situation in the home where she was found was so severe that the uric acid burned her fur and damaged skin around her eyes. The damage could possibly be permanent.

She’s on pain medication to help with her hip issues, but she’s getting stronger, according to the rescue.

Her medical expenses were taken care of by the Medical Miracle Fund, which helps offset the costs associated with medical procedures that go above standard vaccinations and spay and neuter.

The AAWL said Sunshine would do best in a quiet home where she’ll be able to relax.

Sunshine will be available for adoption at the main campus at 25 N. 40th Street.

We want to hear from you.
