PHOENIX – The Arizona Department of Transportation will be reimbursed more than $23 million dollars for money spent to repair roads damaged from floods and fires.
The emergency federal aid money will compensate the department for repair work that has been completed in recent years.
“Making sure Arizona drivers are safe on our roads and freeways is ADOT’s first priority,” Engineer Dallas Hammit said in a press release.
“ADOT is constantly maintaining, improving and repairing vital infrastructure throughout the state and these federal funds are a very valuable and necessary part of those efforts.”
The department is being reimbursed for fixes that were made to state routes 88 and 366 after flooding and fires in July 2017.
Other projects include improvements to portions of state routes 87, 260, 89 and 89A following flood damage in September 2018 and repair parts of state routes 87, 88 and 260 from flooding in September 2019.
Crews are still working to overhaul parts of SR 87 north of Fountain Hills and parts of SR 188 following this summer’s Bush Fire.
