Cindy McCain explains why she’s endorsing Joe Biden for president

PHOENIX – Cindy McCain explained in a video why she crossed party lines to endorse Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden.

“I want you to know how deeply honored I am to endorse you,” McCain said in the video.

Cindy McCain, the widow of longtime Republican Arizona Sen. John McCain, said she was endorsing Biden over President Donald Trump because he is what the country needs.

“In this administration, there is no character, or integrity or values. That’s why you’re so important because you represent all of those things,” she said.

McCain said she won’t change her party but she’s doing what she believes is right.

In April 2019, Cindy McCain said in a tweet she had no intention of getting involved in presidential politics.

“You have no idea what it means to me,” Biden said in the video.

Biden and the senator and were friends for decades. In a video that was shared at the Democratic National Convention in August, Cindy McCain reminisced how the two men became friends and by extension, the families.

McCain’s daughter, Meghan, thanked the former vice president for his support in the days after her father’s battle with brain cancer became public during a December 2017 appearance on the show co-hosts, “The View.”

Mother and daughter have been publicly critical of Trump, who once said John McCain wasn’t a war hero “because he was captured. I like people who weren’t captured.”

We want to hear from you.
