PHOENIX – Fire crews across Arizona have gained more control over a handful of wildfires burning across Arizona.

The Rockhouse Fire is currently the largest active fire in the state. The blaze has burned 19,508 acres and is 95% contained, according to the National Interagency Fire Center.

In Sunday’s update, officials announced there was no new perimeter growth on the Hidden Fire, which is burning in the Tonto National Forest. The fire has consumed 6,100 acres and containment is at 59%.

The Lofer Fire has consumed 1,153 acres and increased to 30% containment since Friday’s update. The lightning-caused blaze is burning 15 miles east of Whiteriver.

According to officials fighting the blaze, the southern portion of the fire received rainfall over the weekend. Fire activity this week will determine if the rain was enough to extinguish the blaze.

The Superstition Fire remained at 95% contained with no new growth. The fire has consumed 9,539 acres.

Over 800,000 acres have been destroyed by wildfires in Arizona this year. Wildfire activity usually burns out by July because of seasonal monsoon rainfall, but those storms have largely failed to materialize.
