PHOENIX — As people look to head out of town for the Labor Day weekend, northbound Interstate 17 was experiencing heavy delays Friday before being cleared, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.
The traffic was backed up between New River Road and Table Mesa Road and there were some moderate traffic north of Anthem as well before clearing just after 7:30 p.m.
The southbound lanes were not affected.
State Route 87 was also experiencing heavy delays between mileposts 216 and 229, starting south of Sunflower.
Despite the heavy traffic heading out of town for the weekend, Valley drivers can expect no state highway closures for the holiday weekend.
