PHOENIX — A high pollution advisory will be in effect in the metro Phoenix area on Friday, the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality announced.

Residents, particularly children and people with respiratory problems, are recommended to limit time outdoors.

The department warned of poor quality caused by two pollutants that come primary from automobiles, paint products, and power plants.

With that in mind, people were encouraged to limit the amount of time they drove and spent in drive-thru lines, and to re-fuel in the evening.

Additionally, big projects involving paint and stains should be delayed until the advisory is over.

The most highest levels of ozone are forecast to be between noon and 4 p.m, according to ADEQ.

High pollution can increase the risk of asthma attacks, aggravate bronchitis and reduce the body’s ability to fight infection, according to the press release. People should watch for symptoms like itchy eyes, nose, and throat, wheezing, coughing, shortness of breath, chest pain and upper respiratory issues.

We want to hear from you.
