PHOENIX — Add another two heat records for Arizona’s capital in 2020.

As the month of August came to a close on Monday, Phoenix set the record for the hottest month ever recorded, according to the National Weather Service.

The average temperature over the course of the month was 99.1 degrees.

That metric breaks the previous record of 98.9 degrees that was previously set in July 2020.

Phoenix also set a record for the hottest meteorological summer, which includes the months of June, July and August.

The average temperature over the course of those three months was 96.7 degrees.

The previous record was 95.1 degrees that was set back in 2013 and tied again in 2015.

Despite the high temperatures, the Valley has seen a slight cool down this week with some rain.

Tuesday and Wednesday’s forecasts show highs right around 100 degrees, but those temperatures go back up closer to the 110-mark heading into Labor Day weekend.

We want to hear from you.
