PHOENIX — Tempe bar Glow Shots & Cocktails on Mill Avenue had its liquor license indefinitely suspended Sunday by the Arizona Department of Health Services.

The health department in a press release said it had reason to believe the bar was violating its attestation and jeopardizing the health, safety and welfare of the public.

Glow Shots & Cocktails must close immediately and remain shuttered until the department grants permission to reopen.

The bar responded on their Instagram page, however, posting a video (viewer discretion is advised for explicit language) saying “The liquor board shut me down for this. 25 percent occupancy with food. 10 people standing is what did it!”

Bars operating as restaurants, as well as other businesses like gyms and movie theatres, were allowed to reopen Thursday morning when metro Phoenix and other regions in Arizona met COVID-19 benchmarks.

Glow Shots & Cocktails marks the third bar to have its liquor license indefinitely suspended this weekend.

Old Town Scottsdale bars Bottled Blonde and Casa Amigos were also served notices to close on Saturday.

No exact reason was given for the closure of the Tempe bar on Sunday, but the two Scottsdale bars were determined to be in violation of social distancing, masking, dancing, standing and table occupancy limitations, according to a press release.

“Detectives will continue to enforce public health orders and take immediate actions against licensees who are observed showing general disregard for the welfare and safety of others,” Department of Liquor Director John Cocca said in the release on Saturday.
