PHOENIX — Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office deputies have found the body of a woman and are searching for another boater who went missing Saturday night at Apache Lake following a flash flood.
Deanna Peterson, 41, was found dead Tuesday afternoon, according to MCSO.
Peterson and 52-year-old Rick Le Grand went missing at about 9 p.m. Saturday after flood waters and debris capsized the boat carrying them and three other passengers.
Another boat rescued the remaining passengers, whose craft had been experiencing mechanical issues while trying to escape the storm.
Deputies are searching a wide area that is still covered in about 12 inches of debris from the flooding.
MCSO said the debris, which was mostly vegetation from the recent Bush Fire, has reduced the visibility of the lake’s surface to almost zero.
Apache Lake is about 80 miles east of downtown Phoenix.
No other information was immediately available.
