2-story Phoenix apartment building goes up in flames

PHOENIX – A two-story apartment fire in central Phoenix sent huge plumes of black smoke into the air early Tuesday.
The two-alarm blaze at a complex under construction was burning near 12th Street and Indian School Road, Phoenix Fire Capt. Todd Keller said in an email.
Crews responded around 6 a.m.

The department said in a tweet posted a half-hour later that first responders were “getting good knockdown” on the fire.
Surrounding buildings were saved from the flames, Keller said.
Cause of the fire is under investigation.
