Free coronavirus testing available in Tolleson on Saturday afternoon

PHOENIX — Free coronavirus testing is being offered in Tolleson on Saturday afternoon.

Swab testing will be available at no cost in the Arizona Desert Elementary School gymnasium until 2 p.m. on Saturday.

Results are expected to return within 72 hours.

The testing will be conducted by medical professionals from Southwellness Comprehensive Medical Care. It is funding through Maricopa County.

COVID-19 rates have decreased in Arizona over the last month. On Friday, the rolling seven-day average for newly reported cases had declined to 739.71, its lowest since June 4, according to tracking by The Associated Press.

Of the 31,558 samples that taken that have been processed and recorded this week, 5% have a positive rate, the lowest since the week starting May 10.

ICU and inpatient bed usage and death rates have also decreased this week.

Arizona Desert Elementary is located at 8803 W. Van Buren St. in Tolleson.
