Flash flood, severe thunderstorm warnings issued for Maricopa County

PHOENIX — A flash flood warning and a severe thunderstorm warning were issued for Maricopa County Thursday night.
The flash flood warning is in effect for Maricopa County until 10:30 p.m. and the severe thunderstorm warning is in effect until 8:15 p.m. for Phoenix, Mesa and Scottsdale, according to the National Weather Service.

A significant weather advisory is also in effect for Maricopa County until 9 p.m.
By 8:20 p.m. APS’ power outage map showed 14 separate power outages in the Phoenix area had affected nearly 9,000 customers.

Around 8 p.m., the Arizona Department of Transportation warned drivers to be mindful of slick driving conditions and reduced visibility.

A separate severe thunderstorm warning included Paradise Valley and Fountain Hills and was scheduled to end at 8 p.m.
An earlier severe thunderstorm warning was also issued for Queen Valley and Floor Junction until 8:15 p.m.

Earlier in the evening, a flood advisory and a dust advisory were also issued for Maricopa County.
The dust advisory was set to expire at 8 p.m.
