PHOENIX – A man has reportedly been charged with murder in Chicago for allegedly running into a Chandler woman with his SUV and circling back to hit her again.
Zoraleigh Ryan, 55, was crossing a street Monday night with her adult daughter when the SUV hit them, according to the Chicago Tribune.
Witnesses told police the alleged driver, 25-year-old Edgar Roman, got out of his vehicle and looked at the victims before driving at them again and dragging Ryan several feet, the newspaper reported.
Roman allegedly fled the scene and eluded police before abandoning his Ford Explorer and reporting it stolen. He was arrested at the station when he made the stolen vehicle report.
Ryan was pronounced dead at the scene. Her 20-year-old daughter was treated at a hospital and released.
Roman was scheduled to appear in court Wednesday on charges of murder, attempted murder, filing a false police report and leaving the scene of an accident, according to The Associated Press.
