PHOENIX — The University of Arizona is offering a new way to experience the Biosphere 2 after suspending walking tours amid the coronavirus pandemic.
People can now visit the Biosphere 2, which consists of seven model ecosystems, and learn more about the scientific research taking place at the facility during night tours from the safety of a car.
The tours take place during the first three weekends of August from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m, according to the website.
People can pre-purchase tour tickets online for $20 per car.
A Biosphere 2 tour app will serve as a personal guide for visitors while navigating through the campus during approximately the 25-minute experience.
Only six people are allowed to be in the vehicle and all occupants must remain in the car wearing a seatbelt throughout the tour.
Car sizes can’t be larger than a full-size long bed truck.
Depending on demand, future dates may become available.
People can also witness the Biosphere 2 virtually.
