PHOENIX — The Goodyear Police Department arrested five people for drug trafficking on Tuesday.
Police arrested 27-year-old Eduardo Torres of Phoenix, 25-year-old Giovanni Jimenez-Reyes and three minors after conducting two traffic stops on two separate vehicles leaving a residence near Indian School and Litchfield roads that authorities received a drug tip on, the department said in a press release Friday.
In one vehicle, officers discovered two large boxes full of marijuana vape cartridges, marijuana oils and $1,000 in cash.
The second vehicle was operated by a 16-year-old who had two handguns — one reported stolen — a ballistic vest, $3,000, marijuana and 20 grams of cocaine.
Police attempted to stop a third vehicle leaving the residence, but it fled into Avondale. Officers later found the vehicle in a dirt field before locating and arresting two suspects, both minors.
The third vehicle had approximately 10 pounds of marijuana, cash, two firearms and large amounts of marijuana cartridges, police said.
Following the arrests, Goodyear SWAT served a search warrant at the residence and discovered the house was being used to process and stash illegal drugs. An adult male was also arrested.
Torres was booked in the 4th Avenue Jail on narcotic drugs for sale, money laundering, illegally conduct enterprise and conspiracy charges.
Jimenez-Reyes was booked on narcotic drug manufacture, marijuana for sale, money laundering, prohibited possessor and conduct an illegal enterprise charges.
The three minors, ranging in age from 16 to 17, were also arrested and booked into Maricopa County Juvenile Detention.
