PHOENIX — A suspect was arrested after shooting at Peoria police officers during a highway pursuit, authorities said Wednesday.
Peoria officers began the pursuit at about 4:10 p.m. after the suspect, who was wanted on domestic violence charges, fled from a parking lot and made his way to Interstate 17.
The suspect then fired at officers on the highway before reaching Interstate 10 and eventually Loop 202 in the West Valley, police said.
Traffic was temporarily stopped at the I-17 stack interchange because of the pursuit.
The suspect eventually exited Loop 202 at Lower Buckeye Road before pulling into a gas station near 67th Avenue and Buckeye Road.
He was taken into custody there and transported to a local hospital for injuries sustained upon his arrest, according to police.
No officers were injured during the pursuit.
No other information regarding the incident was immediately available.
