Loop 101 closures, restrictions in North Valley to affect weekend traffic
PHOENIX — Drivers will have to contend with multiple closures along the Loop 101 and improvement projects in the North Valley this weekend, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.
In the East Valley, the southbound Loop 101 Price Freeway will be closed between the Loop 202 Red Mountain Freeway and the Loop 202 Santan Freeway from 9 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday for lane stripping and pavement improvements.
Ramps from Loop 202 Red Mountain Freeway to southbound Loop 101 and U.S. 60 to southbound Loop 101 will also be closed during this time.
The northbound Loop 101 Price Freeway will also be closed from 9 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday between Baseline Road and the Loop 202 Red Mountain Freeway for diamond grinding and other improvements.
Both U.S. 60 ramps to northbound Loop 101, on- and off-ramps on northbound Loop 101 between Guadalupe Road and University Drive and the westbound U.S. 60 on-ramp at Dobson Road will also be closed during this time.
In the North Valley, pavement work will close southbound Interstate 17 between Thunderbird Road and Dunlap Avenue from 2 a.m. Saturday until 5 a.m. Monday.
During this time, the southbound I-17 on-ramp at Greenway Road will also be closed.
Further north, the eastbound Loop 101 Pima Freeway will be closed between Cave Creek Road and Tatum Boulevard for pavement improvements from 10 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday.
The northbound State Route 51 to eastbound Loop 202, the eastbound Loop 101 on-ramp at Seventh Street and both directions of Cave Creek Road at Loop 101 will also be closed during this time.
Finally, the northbound I-17 will be narrowed to one lane near Carefree Highway for pavement maintenance, resulting in extra travel time Monday from 5 a.m. until 5 p.m.
