Phoenix officer collapses, dies after Arizona National Guard training

PHOENIX — A Phoenix police officer who also served in the Arizona Army National Guard died Wednesday after collapsing during a training event, authorities said.
Robert Dwayne Bryant Jr., was taken to a Tempe hospital Tuesday shortly after the accident at the Papago Park Military Reservation in Phoenix.
Bryant was a second lieutenant in the 850th Military Police Battalion.
Gov. Doug Ducey ordered flags at all state buildings be lowered to half-staff from sunrise to sunset Friday, to honor Bryant.
The cause of death will be determined by the Maricopa County Medical Examiner’s Office.
No other information was available.
Police Sgt. Tommy Thompson said in an email that funeral arrangements for Bryant were pending.
