Toddler boy dead after being found in Phoenix backyard pool

PHOENIX – A 2-year-old boy died Tuesday after he was found unconscious in a swimming pool earlier in the day.
Sgt. Tommy Thompson with Phoenix police said in an email officers had pulled the child out of a backyard pool near 52nd Avenue and Monte Vista Road around 8:10 a.m.
Officers began resuscitation procedures, which firefighters continued. The child was pronounced dead at the hospital.
No one at the home was sure how long the little boy had been in the water.
The boy had last been seen sleeping in a bedroom with two other young children and a teenage brother, Thompson said.
Homicide detectives with Phoenix Police are investigating the incident since a death occurred.
No other information was immediately available.
