PHOENIX — The Phoenix Police Department released new details and video from two shootings involving officers that occurred earlier this year.
The first was from an April 28 shooting in Buckeye that left 32-year-old Robert Musser dead.
A critical incident video shows Musser being shot after fleeing from officers after he allegedly hijacked a rideshare vehicle at gunpoint near 43rd and Orangewood avenues in west Phoenix and fled.
Musser was under surveillance as a suspect in a home invasion before he fled, police said.
The incident occurred near Broadway and Watson roads. The two officers involved had a combined 53 years of service time with the force.
The second incident occurred July 8 outside a motel near Metrocenter Mall.
Officers responded to a 911 call about a woman firing a weapon at a motel near Peoria Avenue and Interstate 17 at about 6:30 a.m., according to police.
When police arrived, they made contact with 24-year-old Jovana Kelsey McCreary and learned she had a misdemeanor drug warrant.
Officers then attempted to arrest McCreary, who pulled away, brandished a handgun and shot at officers before attempting to flee.
Video shows McCreary being shot twice by officers. She was transported to a local hospital in critical condition but survived her injuries.
McCreary was charged with aggravated assault on a police officer, resisting arrest and possession of narcotic drugs.
The two officers involved had a combined 43 years experience with Phoenix police.
