PHOENIX — The HeroZona Foundation announced Tuesday it will add a second drive-thru location to provide south Phoenix residents with free coronavirus testing.
Beginning July 28, testing will be available daily at Cesar Chavez Park (7858 S. 35th Ave.) from 6 a.m. until 1 p.m., according to a press release.
The PCR testing, which detects active COVID-19 infections, will continue during the same hours through Aug. 1 and will resume with the same schedule Aug. 4-8.
HeroZona also updated COVID-19 testing hours at South Mountain Community College — which has been providing free drive-thru tests since early July.
Tests will be conducted at the educational facility from 6 a.m. until 1 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, July 28 through Aug. 1 and Aug. 4-8.
Individuals are not required to pre-register or display coronavirus symptoms in order to receive tests, but must bring a valid ID.
Tests will be administered by the South Florida-based Lab 24, which specializes in molecular testing.
Attendees who test positive expect to be notified of their results within 10 businesses days by a doctor via telemedicine.
Those who receive negative test results will be notified via email within the same amount of time.
HeroZona’s testing efforts are made in partnership with the Travis L. Williams American Legion Post 65, Maricopa County’s District 5, the Arizona Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Feeney Family Charities, among others.
