PHOENIX — The Phoenix Police Department has asked for the public’s help following a fatal hit-and-run incident that occurred Saturday night.

At approximately 10 p.m., a 30-year-old male was struck while heading south across Van Buren Street on the east side of 33rd Avenue, according to a press release.

The unknown driver had been traveling eastbound on Van Buren Street at the time of the collision and was operating a white 2007 to 2010 Saturn Outlook, authorities said.

The driver continued heading eastbound following the collision.

The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Though the deceased had been crossing the street within a designated crosswalk, authorities said the intersection has no signal lights.

No other details were immediately available.

Detectives have asked anyone with information regarding this incident to contact the Phoenix Police Department by calling (602) 262-6151.

Those who wish to remain anonymous can call Silent Witness at (480) 948-6377.
