Metro Phoenix suburbs receive high marks for first-time home buyers

PHOENIX — Four metro Phoenix suburbs were ranked in the top 30 for best places for first-time home buyers and two were ranked in the top 10.
Gilbert came in at No. 5 as Peoria followed at No. 9 in the ranking metric by WalletHub.com. Chandler narrowly missed cracking the top 10 coming in at No. 11 while Scottsdale ranked at No. 26.
The ranking system compared 300 cities by 26 different indicators. All 300 cities were ranked in three categories by affordability, real estate market and quality of life.
All four Arizona cities finished with high scores for affordability and real estate market but lagged behind in quality of life.
Gilbert ranked at No. 7 in affordability and No. 14 in real estate market. Scottsdale finished with the highest quality of life score coming in at No. 112.
Peoria ranked No. 15 in both affordability and real estate market but lagged behind at No. 225 in quality of life.
Chandler ranked in the top 10 in affordability coming in at No. 9.
Other cities in the Valley finished in the top 100 with Surprise coming in at No. 34, Phoenix at No. 67, Glendale at No. 74, Mesa at No. 81 and Tempe at No. 82.
Henderson, NV was ranked as the best place in the country for first time home buyers.
