PHOENIX — For those who waited until the final moments to file taxes, there’s minimal time left before the IRS comes calling.
The extended deadline to file individual tax returns is Wednesday.
Tax forms and instructions can be found at the Arizona Department of Revenue website, as can a list of services that can assist in the electronic filing and submission of taxes.
ADOR advised those filing taxes to be meticulous in their work, including verifying the correct sections are filled out, math errors are avoided and all information is double-checked.
Additionally, if filing a paper return, use black ink on white paper.
The federal tax deadline was extended in March due to the coronavirus pandemic. Shortly after, Arizona extended its own deadline to match the July 15 date.
Individual taxpayers are eligible to request an extension to file their return.
If you are unable to pay, file the taxes anyway. The IRS can set up payment plans online, and penalties for failure to file is more expensive that those for failing to pay, H&R chief tax officer Kathy Pickering told the Associated Press.
