16-year-old girl dies after two-car crash in Phoenix intersection

PHOENIX — One teenager died and another suffered serious injuries in a car accident in northeast Phoenix on Friday night.
A 16-year-old girl died after a two-car crash in the intersection of 44th Street and Greenway Road, according to the Phoenix Police Department.
The crash occurred around 8:15 p.m. The 17-year-old boy driving the car the girl was in did not stop at the red light while driving north, according to police. The car collided with another vehicle traveling westward.
The two teenagers were taken to the hospital with serious injuries, where the girl died.
The driver of the westward-bound car, a 43-year-old man, went to the hospital with minor injuries.
Police do not believe impairment was a factor in this crash.
