Trader Joe’s to open Tempe location near ASU campus on Friday

PHOENIX — Arizona State University area shoppers will soon have a new option for groceries.

Trader Joe’s will open on the northeast corner of University Drive and Rural Road at 8 a.m. Friday.

It will be the chain’s second Tempe location, with the first being located near Guadalupe Road and McClintock Drive.

The new Tempe store will feature artwork from local landmarks such as A Mountain, Tempe City Hall and Sun Devil Stadium.

Trader Joe’s said it will implement social distancing measures at the new store similar to those at current stores.

The new store will be the 16th in Arizona and 11th in metro Phoenix.

Its 10th metro Phoenix location opened in Gilbert in March 2019.
