Glendale mayor, council member plan coronavirus testing blitz Saturday

PHOENIX – Glendale will host a free drive-thru coronavirus testing blitz Saturday at Glendale Community College.

Mayor Jerry Weiers and Councilmember Jamie Aldama’s offices organized the blitz in partnership with Equality Health.

The event will run from 6 a.m. to 11 a.m. and appointments are required, which can be made online or by calling 602-889-9401.

People are asked to wear a mask if possible. If you don’t have a mask, one will be provided.

According to Equality Health’s website, test results will be available in approximately 7 days through Sonora Quest.

The event comes as Arizona works to ramp up testing efforts as coronavirus continues to sweep through the state.

As of Tuesday morning, more than 811,000 combined PCR and serology tests had been given in Arizona.

Arizona reported 3,653 new coronavirus cases Tuesday along with 117 deaths, 52 of which were from death certificate surveillance. That brought Arizona’s totals to 105,094 cases and 1,927 fatalities.

The Arizona Department of Health Services has a list of places of where you can get tested on their website, which includes nearly 300 sites statewide and more than 150 in metro Phoenix.
