PHOENIX — Phoenix Fan Fusion has decided to cancel its 2020 event amid growing coronavirus numbers in the state.

After previously rescheduling, the events organizers announced in press release Monday that Phoenix Fan Fusion’s 2020 date has been canceled.

The event —  which was initially set for May 21-24 — was rescheduled to run from Sept. 25-27 before the cancellation was announced.

“While we are as disappointed as we know you are, we feel this is the best option, as the safety and well-being of our attendees and participants is of utmost concern to us,” Square Egg Entertainment CEO Matthew Solberg said in the release.

“We are a Phoenix-based, locally owned, small business and we understand that our success is because of you.  We continue to wish for the safety and health of all our Fan Fusion family and can’t wait to see you all again at our next convention.”

The decision stemmed from the rising COVID-19 cases in state, and after consulting with the Phoenix Convention Center and city of Phoenix officials, the move was made to cancel the Phoenix Fan Fusion, the release said.

Phoenix Fan Fusion is expected to return Sept. 28-30 in 2021 at the Phoenix Convention Center. Those who already purchased passes for the 2020 event will automatically have them transferred to the 2021 date.

Additionally, those who purchased booth or table space for 2020 will have their purchases automatically transferred to the 2021 dates.

We want to hear from you.
