Glendale Fire Marshals seize nearly 4,000 pounds of illegal fireworks
PHOENIX — Glendale Fire Marshals recovered nearly 4,000 pounds of illegal fireworks in the Phoenix suburb on Thursday.
The fireworks were discovered near North 73rd Drive in Glendale after a resident tipped off fire officials to what they believed was an illegal firework sales operation from inside the house, the Glendale Fire Department said in a press release Monday.
Fire personnel inspected the home, recovering the almost 4,000 pounds of illegal fireworks and explosive material.
All of those seized during the retrieval of the fireworks are prohibited from use within city limits.
According to officials, had the explosives caught fire, the home and the surrounding area could have been severely damage with possible fatalities.
Those living in the home and in possession of the fireworks have charges pending, officials said.
The Glendale Fire Department advises those to be mindful of the dry weather conditions and practice proper safety measures when handling fireworks.
