Glendale officer involved in car accident with fleeing suspect

PHOENIX – A Glendale police officer was injured in a collision involving the vehicle of a fleeing suspect Wednesday, authorities said.

Both the officer and the suspect were transported to local hospitals, but their conditions are unknown.

Glendale Avenue from 75th to 71st avenues is expected to be closed the rest of the afternoon, according to Glendale Police Department.

Police received a call around 1:30 p.m. in response to a person with a gun.

The initial call was about two subjects who were involved in an altercation at a gas station near 75th and Glendale avenues.

One officer was traveling to the scene when he was struck by the suspect’s fleeing vehicle.

There were no additional details available.
