PHOENIX — Intermittent closures will begin Wednesday night along Interstate 17 in the North Valley and could affect drivers until June 28, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.

As Arizona Public Service crews install overhead power lines north of State Route 74, I-17 traffic in both directions could be stopped for up to 20-minute intervals near the Pioneer Road area, according to a press release.

The I-17 southbound off-ramp at Pioneer Road also will be closed when the closures are in effect.

APS crews will begin the installation process at 9 p.m. on Wednesday until 4 a.m. on Thursday. Crews will then resume working at 9 p.m. until 4 a.m. on Friday.

On Saturday, installation construction is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m. and continue until 1 p.m. on Sunday.

From June 22 through June 25, APS crews will work from 9 p.m. until 4 a.m.

If necessary, APS crews will work from 8 p.m. on June 27 until 1 p.m. on June 28 to finish the power line installation.
