Phoenix awards 85 small businesses more than $300K in coronavirus relief

PHOENIX — The city of Phoenix announced on Monday that 85 micro business impacted by the coronavirus outbreak have received more than $300,000 in resiliency grants.
The funds were allocated on Wednesday by the Arizona Community Foundation, which is currently accepting applications for more than 1,400 additional micro business grants, according to a press release.
Micro businesses can be awarded a top grant $5,000.
Applying business must meet certain criteria such as: having been open since Jan 1, 2019, operating within the city of Phoenix, having fewer than 25 employees and the ability to demonstrate a loss of gross sales totaling 25% or more in both March and April of this year when compared to March and April of 2019.
Grants have been funded in part by the federal coronavirus relief bill and Development Block Grant funding.

In May, the Phoenix City Council approved a total of $14 million in resiliency grants for local small businesses.
In coordination with the Phoenix IDA, the city is set to allocate a second round of small business relief totaling $5 million.
Qualifying small businesses can apply online for second-round relief grants of up to $10,000.
