PHOENIX — The Bringham Fire in eastern Arizona had burned 19,901 acres and was 20% contained as of Monday night, according to authorities.

There are 308 personnel working to contain the lightning-caused blaze which has been burning since June 6.

Two hotshot crews, six fire engines, three helicopters and three attack crews have been working to further contain the fire.

The number of personnel assigned to the Bringham Fire will continue to decrease due to successful firefighting efforts, according to officials.

Crews are working to protect structures by covering nearby cabins in aluminum wrap to shield from radiant heat and embers, officials said.

The blaze has been mostly burning north from Yerba Basin and down the side of Red Mountain in the Apache-Sitgreaves national forests, according to authorities.

The Type 2 Incident Management Team working the fire will transition control to the White Mountain Zone Type 3 Incident Management Team on Tuesday.

Firefighters are attempting to keep the blaze east of Highway 191, commonly known as the Coronado Trail, and protect various structures and natural resources.

Highway 191 is closed in both directions due to the fire, which will remain in place through June 27. Various campgrounds and trails in the area are also closed.
